YOU ARE GOD

director: Leszek Dawid, production: 2012, Poland

The film about the legendary group Paktofonika is one of the most important productions of contemporary Polish cinema. Mostly shot in Katowice – including the Wajda housing estate in Bogucice, the Mega Club in Żelazna Street, Spodek, as well as in Chorzów, Mikołów, and Brenna, the film takes us to Upper Silesia at the turn of the 1990s and 2000s. In the pictures of those times and places, it forever retains the unique atmosphere of the turn of the century. The scene recreating Paktofonika’s farewell concert in Spodek in Katowice, which was attended by several thousand extras, will go down in history.
